Adoption Process

We do not do on-site adoptions at our adoption events. Guardian Angel Animal Rescue (GAAR) utilizes an application process. If you are interested in adopting a dog or cat, please download and fill out an application. If approved, a home visit will also be required.

We have worked hard at nurturing and working with the animals in our care. In order to ensure that these pets never find themselves in the shelter/rescue system again, we screen an applicant's lifestyle. We have learned that not every dog/cat is suited for every home. For example, some pets cannot go to a home with children and some need a highly active home. As foster parents, we can determine the best match by reviewing answers provided in the application and then visiting your home. GAAR's goal is not to find just any home for a furry friend but to find a FOREVER home where he/she can live for the rest of his/her life.

Adoption Fees

Sterilized Adult Cats: $100

Sterilized Adult Dogs: $175

Sterilized Small Dog Breeds: $225

Kittens** (under 6 months)/Unsterilized Adult Cats: $150

Puppies** (under 6 months)/Unsterilized Adult Dogs: $225

**Adopter will have to sign a spay/neuter contract for kittens and puppies. $25 of the fees listed for them will be refunded after proof of spaying/neutering is shown.

The adoption fees above cover all age-appropriate vaccines; tests (heartworm, FELV, etc.); spay/neuter (unless otherwise stated); and microchipping.

Spay / Neuter Policy

It is our job at GAAR not only to find new homes for our animals but to ensure these animals never have an opportunity to breed again. All of GAAR's pets will be spayed/neutered at the time of adoption unless the animal is not of age and/or the animal has a medical condition that would prohibit sterilization at the time of adoption. Animals under 6 months of age and animals that cannot be sterilized due to a medical condition will be adopted out on a spay/neuter contract which means the adopter must agree to have the animal sterilized by a specified date.
