Trooper

A good samaritan found a sweet little kitten lying alone, away from the rest of his litter mates and Mom.  He had been attacked by a wild animal and had a quarter size chunk taken out of his hind quarters.  It was obvious that he had been suffering for a few days and didn't have much time left.  The good samaritan called a GAAR volunteer and she rushed out to pick up the entire litter of kittens, along with their Mom.  The little injured kitten was rushed to the Emergency Vet and underwent surgery to clean the wound and surrounding areas.  The Vet gave him a slim chance for survival as he was so dehydrated and close to death.

Miraculously, he came through the surgery with flying colors.  He needed lots of medication and TLC for the following two weeks, but showed improvement each day.  We named him Trooper for his bravery and will to live.

He was adopted by a wonderful woman and now lives his days out in Ann Arbor with her and her husband.  She calls him a "wild man" for his love of playtime and fun.

We are so happy to have been able to help little Trooper heal and live out his life with a wonderful family.

Lady

Lady is a survivor of abuse and neglect. She's only 4 years old and paralyzed from the middle of her back down. She is so full of life and love, you would ever know she is handicapped. We wrapped her legs to protect them from injury and then let her play in the yard. She loves to run and play, this amazing little girl! She wears a diaper in case of accidents and we're trying to find her a scooter, so she can have an easier life. Lady has had a sad life before she was rescued, and she still has so much love and energy in her. A loving, wonderful person fell in love with Lady and gave her the caring home that she deserves!

Thank you for seeing that her physical imperfection doesn't make her less perfect!

Sophia

Little Sophia (here in her favorite sleeping position), was found outside after being abandoned by her owners. She was depressed to find herself alone and without anyone to take care of her, which resulted in a behavioral change that seemed to make it almost impossible to adopt her to anyone. After several months, a wonderful woman decided to take her home and give her a chance. It only took a few days to have her new family tell us she will never give Sophia back - she was a completely changed cat: happy, following her owner around the house, purring and just being her sweet, affectionate and loving self.

Thanking your for taking her into your home and heart!

Frasier

Frasier was born outside and didn't have a lot of and certainly no positive human contact in his first couple of months, so when GAAR took him in, he was very scared and defensive and wasn't comfortable with people touching him. A nice couple decided to take this beautiful little boy home and take the time and love to let him experience how much better life is with someone taking care of him. Frasier is now a happy and trusting cat, who gets more and more affectionate every day!

Thank you for seeing his real personality and having the patience to let him grow into it!
